Mission Alignment

Recently the mission of Legume Technologies has been defined as:

  • To use the Legume Information Design Method for the good of others.
  • To enable others to do the same.

In support of this mission I modified "Taste" to reflect a balanced three-fold "What I Do" thrust:

  • Consultant - create Legumes
  • Coach - help others create Legumes
  • Collaborator -- work with business partners developing commercial applications

This brings more focus as we move forward.
Check out the updated "Taste of Legume" webBook, eBook, and vBook.

Commercializing Legume Information Design Method

Taste of Legume has undergone another major iteration focusing on commercializing the Legume Information Design Method.  This begins with a clear statements of "I have created the Legume Information Design Method." and "I have created a product that implements this method."  The "Problem Solved" statement  is expanded to focus on "people overwhelmed when accessing information."  The solution is breaking information into digestible chunks and presenting them in multiple forms with a "common user experience" independent of the form of access.  Finally there is a clear statement about looking for a commercialization collaborator.

As "Taste" continues to iterate, what I am looking for becomes more clear.  The opportunity in December to present the "elevator speech" for the instructors and my peers at the University of Cincinnati Commercialization Workshop was quite helpful in providing "what I hear you saying" insights.  This input is reflected in the current pass.

Your comments and insights are welcomed and valued.

More than a Little Flavoring

Last Friday I had the opportunity to present Taste of Legume to the instructors and my peers at the University of Cincinnati Commercialization Workshop.  This was immensely helpful with three key points emerged.  (1) The use of "...I am a Christian and an Engineer with..." is not helpful as it detracts from the central message particularly since "Christian" has no other reference (this was universal from those present, so Gary, Karen, and others -- you were right).  (2) The company name was never really referenced.  (3) The "problem solved" was not clearly stated.  This pass addresses those issues.  Also I have tweaked the "Legumes" page adding the concept of "oBook" for oral presentations.  This stems from noting that the "elevator speech" is strictly oral with no handout, but you speak from the contents of a page that listeners will later reference.  I also added aBook allowing the possibility of downloadable audio books paralleling the oBook thoughts.

Additional Flavoring

Taste of Legume continues to grow organically.  The big deal today is adding a "specific high value application" to the need from a business collaborator.  This is in response to brother Gary's suggestion that the missing piece is laser focus on a particular application.  I also refined the "problem solved" uniqueness to tie elevator speeches to business cards that point to a video (a Legume vBook) and a homepage for the Legume.  Applications became bullets for clarity.  The "Legumes" page is also updated to show what Legume books, webBooks, eBooks, and vBooks are.
